Hurley Group NHS GP Partnership

The Hurley Group is an NHS organisation that runs a number of practices and urgent care centres across London. We have been providing patient-centred care since 1969, working within some of the UK’s most deprived communities.

We currently employ over 300 staff compromising of 1/3rd clinical and 2/3rds non-clinical. With a number of practices and unscheduled care sites across London we are able to offer a range of opportunities for GP seeking salaried positions.

We have developed a range of roles for GPs at any stage of their career to develop their own job plan.

  • Recently qualified– opportunity to gain experience at multiple sites, CPD time and study leave, support for courses, including our leadership programme and 1:1 mentoring
  • Experienced GPs– support to develop leadership skills, support to work in CCG roles, entrepreneurial opportunities and mentor training
  • GP Trainers– we run a number of training practices and will also fund GPs to train as GP trainers, or educational supervisors, or FY2 trainers
  • Support for return to work doctors

The Hurley Group GP First Scheme 2017

8 Clinical Sessions including CPD – £80,000 wte.

The role of the GP has never been more pivotal to patient care and to the wider scope of health and wellbeing. We are an NHS GP led organisation who are committed to providing high quality patient care and nurturing the talent of our workforce.

In order to do this we have developed an innovative and flexible work scheme for newly qualified general practitioners. The scheme, started in 2013, is a pioneering programme designed to address the need to develop leadership and management skills for newly qualified GPs and recognise the transition from registrar to salaried GP.

The Scheme

We recruit enthusiastic GPs within the first three years of qualification to join the Hurley team. Employment is on a salaried basis with flexible working opportunities, portfolio development prospects, competitive and progressive salary scale, six weeks annual leave, one week study leave and full NHS pension. GPs will be able to work across a variety of sites including large and small practices, training practices, Walk-in Centres and Urgent Care Centres. Other opportunities include:

Lead GP /local Medical Director

The Lead GP/local Medical Director at each site works as part of the practice leadership team partnering the Practice Manager and a dedicated senior manager to lead the site. To support and develop you in this role supervision and mentoring from one of the Hurley Group Partners and Senior Managers is available. You will also be part of an LMD peer support network with clinicians in similar roles across the group.
